Free Internet Bandwidth for Education

If
you are an educational
institution such as
universities, colleges,
school districts, and other
educational facilities, you
can apply for a grant for
free
Internet bandwidth.
Approved grants can receive
from 45 Mbps up to 10,000
Mbps of free internet
bandwidth.
Applications
are determined on a case by
case basis, but most
educational institutions are
approved with the below
requirements. This special
educational program is
generously offered by some
of the Tier 1 providers.
Hurricane Electric is one of
the participles in this
grant.
Requirements for Free
Internet:
-
Network
must run BGP with their
provider link.

Has to
have your own ip address
space from ARIN.
-
Fifty ip prefixes via BGP or
more can apply for up to
1,000 Mbps of Internet
access per location for
the service free.
(This can be a savings of
$18,000 per month off
the regular wholesale
rates.)
-
Networks
announcing 50 ip
prefixes or less via BGP
can apply for up to
1,000 Mbps of Internet
access for the service
at only $1,000 per
month. A savings of
$17,000 per month off
regular wholesale rates.

Internet
access is available at
specific NAP locations.
The Internet
bandwidth can be at
other locations via a
local loop by arranging
with any fiber company
or Telco, but at the
educational facility's
expense. Below you will

available on this
program. You can
